Open Water Class Questions

Welcome to the MDA Open Water Scuba Course. The following information will provide answers to some of the questions you may have concerning the course.

Q: Does the $159 price apply to private or special classes? This price applies only to our regularly scheduled weekly and two week programs and for visiting military units. We will provide a price for your course based upon your individual requirements and schedule.

Q: How long do I need for the course? The course will be arranged to meet your schedule, but the minimum time is 3 days.  We need two full days for all water training, and one full day for classroom activities.

Q: Who will be my instructor? We have a team of highly qualified and experienced instructors who specialize in these classes.  The instructor will contact you personally after you notify us that you are "ready to dive Guam"!

Q: What is included in the course fee?  The PADI student Kit, all academic / open water instruction, all scuba equipment, and a boat dive coupon.  Upon successful completion of the course you will receive your certification as a PADI International 5-Star Open Water Diver.  You also receive a special student discount on purchases while you are in the course.

Q: What do you need to have for the course? You need to have the PADI Open Water student kit, complete with all tables, log books, etc.  This can be purchased at any PADI training facility or we can mail the kit to you.     If you are staying on Guam longer than 3 days we recommend that you purchase the kit from us as you'll definitely save money.

*Masks, snorkels, fins and boots are available for you to use during your class at reduced rental charges, however we strongly recommend purchasing them as these items are highly personalized.

You also will need two passport-size photographs to be used for your PADI Open Water Certification card.

Q: Do we provide hotel transportation? Yes, but please let us know that you'll be needing transportation.  If you don't need transportation we won't include this in the quote for your course.

Q: Are there any additional charges? There are no additional or hidden charges.

Q: What are the swimming requirements? Obviously, all divers must be comfortable in the water. You will be asked to demonstrate your ability to swim 200 yards (non-timed) and to float or tread water for 10 minutes.

Q: Are there any medical considerations? You must be in good mental and physical condition. Please review the separate medical questionnaire prior to signing up for your class.   You can download the Medical Release here. (pdf format).
