POHNPEI, MICRONESIA
 Are you in the market for a well need vacation to a remote place in the world where you can unplug from your life? Pohnpei is the place to go! This is an island that is truly an amazing peaceful place, being a outdoor lovers paradise. Where is Pohnepi? It is in the Western Central Pacific Ocean, just north of the equator. The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) is a group of 607 islands in this area, Pohnpei being the third largest, with a radius of approximately 13 miles and the capital of the FMS.
If you enjoy diving with Manta Rays, sharks, barracudas, wall diving, drift diving and seeing miles of coral you’ve never seen before, then you will enjoy Pohnpei. But if you also like hiking, local craft shopping, excellent food, kayaking though shaded mangroves, the smell of flowers in the air, freshwater waterfalls, ancient ruins, watching island kids playing, and sleeping in a tree house, then you will “fall in love” with Pohnpei.

 A must stay resort is “The Village”. Owned by Bob and Patti Arthur, their tree house style resort is like a scene out of The Swiss Family Robison Movie. Built into the trees and jungle mountain terrain, you are hidden away from the world, but with an never ending ocean view. The individual bungalows are made from local materials and constructed using timeless Ponapean carpentry techniques such as “thatch-roofs”.
Once inside you have all the necessary things to make your vacation comfortable; private bathroom, ceiling fans, Victorian wicker furniture creating a comfortable sitting area, and queen size beds with mosquito needing surrounding them. Walls are made from bamboo and screened in letting that island breeze to relax and fall asleep too.
Your feet will be cool on the smooth polished wooden floors. A television or telephone in these bungalows you won’t find, just the smell of bamboo, fresh flowers and the sounds of birds outside your windows. With a full restaurant, bar, gift shop and a breathtaking view, The Village is a paradise to relax in. You’ll never want to leave!
