The water is crystal clear, nearly all dives are a leisurely drift with the boat waiting for you as you surface. The hard corals here are huge & some of the healthiest you'll find any where. The air fare may cost a little more, but that nearly guarantees you won't be fighting the crowds in & out of the water The Kosrae Nautilus Resort is owned & operated by an Australian family & offers hotel and diving operations. The hotel has 16 air-conditioned large rooms, with cable TV, internet connection, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities, air-conditioned restaurant or outside dining by the swimming pool, tropical gardens, and a kayaking canal right behind the property. Dive rates include tanks, weights and lunch. Rental equipment is available.
A 5 to 6 hour hike to Mt.Oma, the islands 2nd highest peak, exploring Japanese WW2 caves that catacomb through the mountain at many different heights. A side trip can be taken on this hike to refresh under a waterfall. A 1 1/2 to 2 hour leisurely paddle in a kayak through the mangrove channel at the rear of our hotel. Snorkeling in the blue hole which is a 250 yard walk out in front of the hotel. Lots of small marine life, some sea anemones, sting rays, huge puffer fish, and the occasional Lion Fish. There is also the Kosrae Village Resort is constructed in more traditional styling. Featuring thatched bungalows, ceiling fans and fully equipped for the physically impaired, the Kosrae Village offers separate room and diving rates as well as touring rates which include a multitude of cultural options. These would include breakfast, airport transfers, snorkeling or daily land tours and other attractions. Kayaking, outrigger canoes, hiking and boat tours are available daily under this rate. Dive trips are available with both hotels. |
